FOOTBALL PRACTICE
A couple things.
I don't know if it's that I'm getting worse at deciding the importance of things to share or if there is just a plethora of
very important things to share these days. Either way, here they come...
First I will start with Champion's League games today. There are two. Paris Saint-Germain vs FC Barcelona and Bayern
Munich vs Juventus. Should be good stuff all around. I was looking over the PSG press conference quotes and found this
from Carlo Ancelotti : "Je veux voir un Paris Saint-Germain courageux, avec beaucoup de personnalité et les idées claires
quand nous aurons le ballon. Pour pouvoir faire une grande partie et gagner."
It basically means : "I want to see Paris Saint-Germain courageous, with a lot of personality and clear ideas when we have
the ball; to be able to have a great game and earn a win." Sometimes I wish English sounded as beautiful as
French, Spanish, or Italian. They are the Romance languages for a reason though.
Today also marks the completion of the first month of the 2013 MLS season. And it's already been SO good. Honestly,
I already feel more progress in the league this year than I have the past two seasons. "Feel" as in it's a feeling.
Good vibes.
That's all. Goal.com put together The Top 10 Surprises Through MLS's First Month.
1. Chivas USA is no laughing matter
2. Seattle remains winless...
3. ...but the Sounders made history
4. FC Dallas leads the West
5. Montreal makes a major impact
6. Revs defense is statistically the league's best
7. Rookie class is better than advertised
8. Chicago lacking its 2012 Fire
9. Mike Magee leads Golden Boot race
10.Landon Donovan has already returned
I love all of them and I'm obviously in love with #9 and #10 - read more here.
Yesterday Chelsea beat Manchester United in an FA Cup game, 1-0. I am a proud Blues fan, but I found this article relating
to Manchester United fans. It is quite interesting. Writer, Musa Okwonga, explains how Man United fans should not be too
worried about one loss this time around. He says : "'All glory is fleeting.' Ferguson is the exception to that ageless rule.
This loss, therefore, is not a time for recrimination; but a time to gaze gratefully from the mountain-top,
knowing that few can survive this climb, still less survive long at this altitude." Read his article here.
And finally, U.S. Soccer Centennial Week starts today and goes until Friday in New York City, the birthplace of the
Federation. April 5, 1913, was the exact date of the signing of the U.S. Soccer charter, hence the culmination of the
event on Friday the 5th. Visit this page to learn about all the events and special guests joining in on the U.S.
Soccer fun.
